About Me

Clarissa Hummel,
Dog Trainer and Behavioral Specialist

I’m a long-time animal lover and trainer. I received a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University in Wildlife Biology and graduated from the Exotic Animal Training and Management program from Moorpark College. Throughout my education, I had the opportunity to work with many different types of animals (e.g. primates, birds of prey, large cats, coyotes) as well as learn different tools and techniques in husbandry and positive reinforcement training.

My life took a slightly different turn when my family adopted an Australian Shepherd puppy who was very anxious, fearful, and independent. Even with all of my experience and training, things became very difficult very quickly. I knew there was something I was missing.

After a lot of research, I found a method that helped me to better understand and communicate with my dog, alleviate her fears and anxieties, and help me to be the calm, confident leader she needed. The results were so amazing that I continued to study and learn more about these methods and had a sincere desire to help other dog owners have a better relationship with their dogs. I enrolled in the Dog Trainer Academy, founded and run by Dan Abdelnoor (Doggy Dan), and have been able to deepen my understanding of dog behavior and communication. I look forward to sharing this knowledge with you!
